CNC Enclosure

Jun 07, 2007 10:01

I ran the CNC last night with a improvised lid and door on the enclosure. It helped cut down on the noise, not 100% but it helped.

I will need to do something about ventilation though. The box was VERY hot after the print was done.
The fan on the CNC "Brain" is now VERY noisy. Presumably it sucked up some sawdust. :(
Hopefully a good cleaning will fix it.

I fully shut down the system then later re-booted to do the final outline cut. Unfortunetly the y axis was off by about 1/16 of an inch! So it screwed up the final print  :(

I hope this was because of the "reboot" and I didn't damage anything running in the enclosure!

I think if I rig a air hose from the outside to the "Brain" vent intake that will fix the problem. It will provide clean air flowing through the "Brain" and then into the enclosure to help keep things cooler.

Lowes did not have the key hole router bit for my dremel (they had all the others - grrrrrrr)
I got a regular key hole router bit, thinking I may be able to use my drill press. But it just dont have enough RPM to work properly. I guess I need to either find a dremel bit somewhere, or ge my old router working again.
