Three new law library jobs

The Santa Clara University School of Law Heafey Law Library has an opening for the position of Reference Librarian. The successful candidate will be service oriented and have experience with both traditional and electronic legal materials; knowledge of windows based computers, operating systems, and applications in a Novell networked environment. This position requires participation in the University's commitment to service and will involve some weekend and evening hours.

Reporting to the Director of Public Services, the Reference Librarian is responsible for providing reference services to law school faculty, students, and staff as well as courtesy card users of the law library. This position involves some evening hours. All librarians rotate weekend reference shifts, and participate in collection development. There is also opportunity to teach Advanced Legal Research as part of the law school curriculum. This position is responsible for:

* Provides reference services to law school faculty, students and staff as well as attorney patrons.
* Provides faculty research assistance through the Faculty Liaison program; assists faculty with online research, interlibrary loans and other research projects as needed and update assigned faculty members' bibliographies on the web.
* Coordinates Lexis & Westlaw training, oversees password distribution, and acts as liaison to CALR vendors and LARAW instructors/students.
* Serves as the primary liaison with Lexis and Westlaw academic reps, their student reps and equipment technicians.
* Provides formal and informal training to students, in the areas of bibliographic instruction, online database searching and legal research.
* Serves as the department back-up for Inter-Library Loan services.
* Creates subject specific library user guides and bibliographies.
* Participates in collection development and library-wide activities.
* Conducts library tours as requested.
* Other projects and duties as required.

An M.L.S. from ALA accredited library school and a J.D. from ABA accredited law school are required, as are excellent communications skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of web-based reference sources, the internet and computers and previous experience with the Innovative Interfaces system are desirable, but not required.

The Oklahoma City University Law Library invites applicants for the position of Reference and Asst. Access Services Librarian.

Reference duties include providing legal reference services to law students, law faculty and other patrons of the Law Library. This includes answering legal research and general reference questions, assisting law students, law faculty, and other patrons with print and electronic resources. Reference responsibilities also include providing in-depth services to law faculty members through the faculty liaison program. Participation in collection development is also expected. Responsibilities in Access Services area include interaction with the systems librarian to ensure proper operation of the Voyager ILS and assistance to the Head of Reference and Access Services in supervision and oversight of the Circulation Department.

Candidates should have a JD and a Library Science degree. For someone pursuing or completing a Library Science degree (who already possesses a JD degree) previous employment in legal or related fields could be considered. Prior supervisory experience in a library or other environment is a plus. The ideal candidate will have experience with Voyager ILS or other Ex Libris systems.

The San Francisco office of Bingham McCutchen seeks a reference librarian to join our dynamic Library and Research Services Department. This global team consists of over 25 information professionals who work together to provide an integrated response to research requests.

With two other Reference Librarians,this position provides broad range of reference and research services for the San Francisco office. Serves as primary Interlibrary Loan contact for the San Francisco office. Provides reference and research services for other domestic and international offices, as needed. Works on intranet content and other special projects, as assigned. Coordinates with the Bingham McCutchen Library team to provide the highest level of service to the firm and its clients.

Masters Degree in Library or Information Science highly preferred. Experience working in a law library or other special library setting required. Excellent language, communications, and interpersonal skills. Organizational and analytical abilities. Strong service commitment. Ability to learn new things quickly, juggle multiple projects, and adapt easily to change. Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
