[ With exams coming up, shy Sheska has been spending more time than usual at a little sidewalk cafe near the public library, but only three of her books seem to be about classwork, and they remain untouched on the top of various stacks. The others, excepting one or two she has open, form the lower parts of the short towers. The stack of notebooks is untouched but for one, which doesn't seem to be one she uses in class. She's scribbling madly, her tea growing colder by the minute.
She has a fresh scrape across one cheek, with what promises to be a beautiful plum-colored bruise welling up under it, and her right hand is wrapped with a clean bandage. She is jumpy today, starting every at every noise and snatching up her communications device to check it.]
