Well, I'm off to Riverside tonight for the Dickens Festival! I still have to sew hooks and eyes and snaps to my new ballgown, as well as trimming the neckline, and I'm hoping that I can get away without boning the front of the bodice, but Caprice and I were kind of planning on spending all of Friday hanging out in our hotel room and hand-sewing. I managed to get all of the machine sewing finished, however, and all of my new tchochkes for my steampunk apron (to be worn on Sunday) attached, so it's just lots and lots of nice, meditative hand sewing from here on out.
Apart from the steps mentioned above, I managed to throw together:
-a petticoat
-an underskirt with 1 of 2 pleated ruffles attached at the hem
-an asymmetrical overskirt
-a crossover-front bodice
-a pair of dancing slippers
-a reticule
-two cravat/neckcloth type things
-moral support and fitting help for Caprice as she worked on her underskirt, overskirt, and bodice mock-ups.
I've kind of given the gloves up as a lost cause for Mr. Fezziwig's Ball on Saturday night, but I'm bringing them with me just in case, and so that I'll have some hand-work to do on Sunday as well.
In addition, I'm bringing a brick of homemade fudge, two bottles of home-brewed mead, and a bottle of Raspberry Lambic that I picked up at Trader Joe's last night.
I think this is going to be a good weekend.
