THE LOST BIT OF ORANGE PAPER...
Today i lost my mothers jam drop recipe and scoured the house looking for it, It is written on a bit of orange paper i pulled out of a notebook. (seriously guys if you see it point it out!)In searching for this bit of paper i found more bits of paper with recipes on it. Dammit i thought! I need to put all of these onto my computer! But what if my computer crashes?? A light went off in my head- livejournal!
How many times have you found a recipe that you liked only for it to be ruined by cake mix, egg, or even accidentally baked it in the oven with the biscuit slide?? (okay i didnt know it had stuck to the bottom of the tray.. i was looking for it for twenty minutes when i smelt the burning coming from the bottom of the oven) I need to put all my bits of paper in hard copy so i cant ruin them. I have so many recipes that i love and i am so happy to share them on here.
Now to start i am going to give you a few basic tips on cooking the libertine way....
*Dont fuss over exact measurements, especially ones you get out of overseas cookbooks. The US has different sizes for its teaspoons and tablespoons, so always check that. My mothers jamdrop recipe is in ounces and i have easily converted into metric, and really if you think about it, the only way you can really stuff something up is if you add salt instead of sugar.
*All mistakes can be eaten! Bad cake -->trifle! Bad cookies --> biscuit base for a cheesecake! Bad cheesecake --> there is no such thing as bad cheesecake!!! if its too soft to take it out of the tin, get a spoon and ladle it out into ramekins and eat it like that!
*Keep an eye on your oven, mine is called Bertha, Bertha the bitch. She is credited for cooking a lamb roast in twenty minutes and burning the first tray of every batch of cookies i have ever baked in her. I recently bought an oven thermometer and its very sensitive, but so is bertha. She's found ways of getting around this new fangled technology. If you feel that i think my oven has a vendetta against me, please come over and prove me wrong. I think she's pissed she didnt get chosen as Carrie Bradshaw's oven ( it is used for storage only).

P.S. i called my mother to get the recipe off her again, she found it and promptly dropped her 40 yr old CWA recipe book down a crack in the veranda and under the house. 20 minutes later it is retrieved, albeit, a little dusty but intact. The same cannot be said for my father ;)
