Valentine's Day: Kill It With Fire

Feb 21, 2011 15:47

Who: Megamind (mygiantbluehead ) and Roxanne (neveradamsel ).
What: Valentine's Day bonfire of great justice evil.
When: 14th February, early evening.

The preparations were almost complete.

It had been trickier than he'd imagined, setting everything up. The decision to have the bonfire at the park had been spontaneous; the majority of the best times he'd had with Roxanne as Bernard had been in the park - really, he might actually have to get a bicycle at some point, that had been a ridiculous amount of fun - and... well. Why shouldn't he, as himself, have an enjoyable time with Roxanne in the park? Besides, once he'd remembered that he was, currently, an evil overlord and therefore could do what he wanted, closing off the park for preparations had been easy. Transporting the cards, flowers and chocolate, however, had been more difficult.

But not quite as difficult as buying them in the first place. Once he had made sure the city was under his control, Megamind hadn't really ventured out into it, preferring to remain holed up in Evil Lair. Oh, he'd been out with Roxanne as Bernard, but... he hadn't really been paying attention to anyone but her. Over the past couple of days, though, as he slowly but surely bought up all the Valentine's Day merchandise he could lay his hands on - actually buying, not stealing or just demanding, but buying with money - it had struck him just how badly off the city was.

It shouldn't bother him. It didn't bother him, not really. It was, after all, merely a sign that the bad guy was in charge now. But... it upset Roxanne, and that did bother him, to such an extent that he was almost considering giving some of the money back to the banks... Well. If he did do something like that, clearly it would be for his own benefit. Somehow. He'd work out the logistics later.

Anyway, the point was, he was very nearly ready for Roxanne. The bonfire was ready to be lit when she arrived, there was a blanket laid out on the ground for them to sit on and a tray with two cups of hot chocolate and a dozen doughnuts from his usual cafe around the corner.

There... may also have been something else hidden in the invisible car, but... he didn't expect to need any of it. This wasn't a date, after all. It was a--a structured protest against Valentine's Day dates. So there.
