Haha, I just posted this to
lunatunes by accident. Sorry about that. Anyways.
So
Joe Biden is now Obama's running mate. I admit, I'm a little disappointed - I was really hoping Tim Kaine would've gotten the spot (I held little hope that Hillary would get it) because I know how competitive Virginia is this year. But I understand where Obama's coming from, and I think this is a good choice. Senator Biden brings lots of experience with him, especially foreign policy experience.
Here's some links, mostly related to Biden.
++ From NYT:
In Obama's choice, a 'very personal decision'.
++
Obama' pick adds foreign experience to ticket:
In Mr. Biden, Mr. Obama selected a six-term senator from Delaware best known for his expertise on foreign affairs - Mr. Biden spent last weekend in Georgia as that nation engaged in a tense confrontation with Russia - but also for his skills at political combat. Mr. Obama passed over other candidates who might have brought him a state or reinforced the message of change that has been central to his candidacy.
At the rally outside the Old State Capitol where Mr. Obama announced his candidacy 19 months ago, he described Mr. Biden as a man ready to be president. And he offered a passionate and politically instructive introduction of Mr. Biden: the portrait of a running mate who filled in what many Democrats have described as the political shortcomings of Mr. Obama.

Biden's memoir now a best-seller. Heh.

For Senator, another comeback.

Joe Biden's just a regular guy.

Obama's improbable path to the nomination.

Support for each candidate holds steady:
Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain are locked in a highly competitive race for the White House, with voters giving McCain a clear edge as a potential commander in chief but Obama a sizable advantage on economic issues, the subject of greatest concern to voters, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
Heading into two critical weeks of the campaign -- the four-day Democratic National Convention is set to open here on Monday, followed by the Republican National Convention in the Twin Cities next week -- Obama maintains a narrow, six-point edge over McCain among registered voters. Among those most likely to vote, 49 percent back Obama and 45 percent back McCain.
Whoo!
There was also a great article in today's WaPo about Obama's upbringing in Hawaii, but I can't find a link to it right now.
