The retroactive immunity bill goes forward in the Senate.

Dec 17, 2007 12:46

The vote for cloture (ending debate) was 76-10.

Infuriating and anti-climactic. Welcome to the "Democratic majority."

ETA 1:46pm EST: Speeches ongoing in support of/against an amendment removing immunity from the bill. But I shan't be around to see it, so update in comments if anything changes ( Read more... )

It's not just what they're not getting done, it's what they're not even trying. Republicans threaten a filibuster? Well then, make them actually filibuster. Saying you're gonna is not the same thing. Bush threatens a veto, make him veto. And it's the wrong they're getting done, like this bill.

Perhaps it won't pass the House.

McCain and Coburn were among the Republicans who didn't vote... and I'm assuming Clinton, Obama, and Biden were in Iowa.

More Rs not voting: Brownback, Craig.

Lautenberg (D) didn't vote either. Nor did Lieberman (CFL) nor Sanders (I).

It is, but no more bizarre than the fact that Vitter's still there. How did admitting to a felony as well as infidelity becomes ok if you talk it over with Jesus?

Remember, Jesus saves! (apparently he saves political careers)
