The retroactive immunity bill goes forward in the Senate.

Dec 17, 2007 12:46

The vote for cloture (ending debate) was 76-10.

Infuriating and anti-climactic. Welcome to the "Democratic majority."

ETA 1:46pm EST: Speeches ongoing in support of/against an amendment removing immunity from the bill. But I shan't be around to see it, so update in comments if anything changes.

ETA2 2:07: WTF. Kennedy voted to move forward on this legislation... but he's now up there railing against the Intelligence Committee version, the Bush Administration, and AT&T. Saying all the right stuff about how the spying may have started before 9-11, and the Administration may have intercepted millions of Americans' emails. *head spins*

ETA3: I was mistaken, it wasn't cloture on the bill, but cloture on a Motion to Proceed. No, I don't get it either. See here for details.
