A medley of news

The Senate has passed a resolution Jim Webb calls "Dick Cheney's fondest pipe dream" [YouTube link] because although it doesn't, it could be read as authorizing military action against Iran. I think he really meant "Dick Cheney's fondest wet dream," but didn't say it because he'd get in trouble. Also because it would give us all horrifying mental ( Read more... )

Is it me, or is this just one more instance of incredibly childish behavior? Not arresting the protesters, that's just more "free speech zone" shit, but the whole "I don't wanna be at their partyconference! They're mean to me! I'm gonna have my own partyconference!"

Why does Bush care about Myanmar? There must be oil around somewhere. Obviously there's no oil in Darfur.

and I couldn't help laughing about (poor) Larry Craig. R-deeplycloseted, indeed.

I don't think so... I think he's just scrambling for somebody over which he can plausibly claim higher ground. "See, they're killing peaceful protesters in their capital whose religious convictions forbid violence! I'm not doing that!"

Obviously there's no oil in Darfur.

Obviously.

R-deeplycloseted, indeed.

Somebody needs to look into possible electoral shenanigans, because I'm pretty sure Deeplycloseted has more Senators than any other state is allowed... all or mostly Republicans.

Yeah, it is. But considering the Bush administration has claimed the post-9-11 authorization of force has given them permission to do... whatever, I'm thinking any excuse we give them is bad. Plus, it seems like it's greasing the skids towards war.

I HEART BILL. (I also like the sound of "First Gentleman". Got a nice ring to it.)

Oh, LARRY CRAIG, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WIT YEW?! Oh, right. Laugh. (Please let this drag the GOP through the mud all during the election. Please, please, please.)

The scary thing about T-Blair is that he's smart. Bush is a dumbass, so....different category altogether. But Blair?! Heebeejeebees.

Monks!!! They're cool! Although I'm not cheerful about this whole "9 people dying" thing. DON'T KILL MONKS. :*( I object!

I always feel ashamed of being a Dem, unless we're referring to Nancy P, or Howard Dean, or, y'know, someone with a backbone. The rest just make me want to cry. These are our GOOD GUYS?! They can barely say five words without ass-kissing. C'MON NOW.

I think there's gotta be some willful self-delusion going on there, as well as an over-weaning need to be liked. Just wish he'd wanted to be liked by his own people rather than Bush. :/

Really. I think we're gradually replacing the wimps with real Dems, but it's slow going.
