++ Bush Orders Staff to Attend Ethics Briefings. The hypocrisy is making my head spin.

++ U.S. Launches MASSIVE Syrian Border Offense. This is the largest military assault since Falluja in January, and likely to be about as successful. More from Daily Kos.

++ Indelible Memories for Veterans of Iraq. This reminded me of my grandfather showing off his old, faded Navy tattoos.

++ Buyer's remorse: Some in GOP Regretting Pork-Stuffed Highway Bill. This is my favorite part:
Lawmakers say voters are stopping them back home to ask whether the "Bridge to Nowhere" is a joke or whether it actually exists. It is no joke. The project, championed by Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), would link tiny Ketchikan, with a population of 8,900, with its airport on Gravina Island -- population 50.

Oh, if only it was a joke! More on the Bridge to Nowhere from Salon.

++ From Newsweek: Three men arrested in London may have been part of a plot to blow up the U.S. Capitol and the White House. Meep?

++ More reasons to hate 50 Cent, besides the fact that he has no talent:
He says, "Being gay isn't cool - it's not what the music is based on. There's always been conflict at the centre of hip-hop, because it's all about which guy has the competitive edge, and you can't be that aggressive if you're gay. "If being straight isn't your preference, well, that's up to you. But there's no successful men in hip-hop.

"I mean, some rappers are fruity, but they don't say they're gay out in the open."

He's been making homophobic statements like this for years - last year he mentioned something like "if girls wanna be lesbians, that's cool, but I can't deal with no fag" - but you'd think eventually he'd learn to shut the fuck up.

++ NJ, VA Campaigns Get Nasty - oh, like they've been all polite and friendly the past 9 months or so? *eyeroll*

++ REMINDER: Tuesday is election day in Virginia, New Jersey, Ohio, California, and New York City. If you're able, please consider volunteering.
