So, the US Senate confirmed, as expected, the bill to fund US troops that was accepted by the US House of Reps Thirsday by 51-46 vote.
The bill will be on President's desk early next week. President will most likely veto it. In light of that, Democrats need to do something to defeat the perception that they're refusing to fund troops. Ultimately, it is the President who is refusing to fund troops. The bill provides even more funds than President asked for, $124.2B. But it also sets deadlines for the removal of troops. Democrats need to win the PR war to make everyone see that it is, indeed, the President who's refusing to fund troops.
P.S. It would be ironic if Democrats deliver the bill to the White House on the fourth anniversary of the "Mission Accomplished" episode. Wouldn't that revive very telling imagery? :)
