I heard a bunch of happiness abounds regarding Obama appointing a CTO. Why do we need a computer technology leader? Seems to me we need a "chief engineer". An engineer who will figure out how to compete with other countries on the many levels they are beating us at right now. Think resource extraction. There are many industries hurting now,

The future is no longer about how we can get resources at lower cost. It's about how we can use fewer resources, and make using fewer resources marketable to the developing world.
