The paternalistic state is the enemy of civil liberties.

So is illegal, judicial oversight-free wiretapping.

Democrats hardly have a lock on the paternalistic/nanny state.

Are you trying to tell me Democrats wouldn't be doing oversight-free wiretapping? I've heard them say they'd be willing to impeach Bush for what he's doing (as would I), but I haven't heard that they'd operate any differently.

"Especially" clinton. You do know how English works, right? It might be seen as a true statement if, say, Clinton was zealously abusing his Presidential power with illegal wiretapping over his entire 8 years, thus making him the worst example for illegal wiretapping yet. But considering that his administration has done it a few times, compared to... what, hundreds? Thousands under the Bush administration?

OMG I totally wrote them a flaming email about how disturbing that comic was. Their answer was that it was for the mothers to read, so they could see how a child would perceive it. I told them that that was a load of bullshit and that PETA continuously made mistakes (mentioning Pam Anderson and Tommy Lee, and how they'd take their clothes off for anyone) re: advertising. Their last email was something like "PETA appreciates your interest, but we feel we have already answered your questions, blahblahblah."

Long story short, it's meant for mommies, not kids. Still, it's pretty fucked up.
