Expo

Expo was good. ^_^ I had a great time there seeing friends and making new friends and hanging out with some really awesome people, and cosplaying again. I really need to do something about my San footwear though, as I was suffering far too early on on Saturday because of the boots - hard-soled and SO uncomfortable after two hours or so. Also, they're just about acceptable for costume-accuracy, but they look a little too much like obviously-altered slouch boots, and I could probably do with making some simpler, more comfortable ones.

As usual I ended up getting reeled in by the Shiny Things that numerous stallholders were peddling, but it was really nice chatting to some of the guys working there, like the Genki Gear people, who are lovely and do some fantastic T-shirt designs, and also the Tokyo Toys people, who are really friendly and recognised me from Minamicon. ^_^

The thing that made the event for me was hanging out with friends, some who I already knew and some who I met properly for the first time. I've heard a lot about the differences between conventions and events like Expo, and the nature of Expo does bother me a little - it's so big and at times very claustrophobic being in the middle of crowds, and I don't want to even talk about the amount of sign-holders and free-huggers, some of whom were downright rude and aggressive, that dragged the atmosphere down. The best times over the weekend were in the evenings and at the times when I was just chilling with other cosplayers and friends. The Final Fantasy photoshoot on Saturday was fun to watch and, er, take part in ^_^;; ("I'm the secret character from, um, Final Fantasy 9!! XD") and there were some great costumes on show both on the floor and during the Masquerades.

I also ate LOVELY FOOD on both nights and entered the Sweatdrop competition again even though my entry would have been a lot better if I'd bothered colouring it, but I mostly just wanted to sit down and draw something. And the Letraset markers scared me. >_> But I'm definitely going to try them out at some point. :) I got inspired to start thinking about comic-making and drawing again:

Drew both of these today. I tried colouring the top one in Painter earlier but I just wasn't happy with how it was going, so I abandoned the attempt. I left all my inking pens in Lancaster, but once I get them back I might try inking them and then rescanning them. Then again, I do like them as sketches ...

We'll see.

Also, THANK YOU rossmills for putting up with me as your room-mate again and not complaining *too much* about me elbowing you in the face on Saturday night!! XD (You could have moved your head a lot sooner though, I wouldn't have woken up!!)

I got back feeling completely worn out and cold yesterday, and then watched Aladdin in the evening because, well, after all the renditions of 'Street Rat' that happened over the weekend (inspired of course by princess_mark and his Aladdin cosplay XD), it had to be done. ^_^
