Simply because I find it humourous.
Okay, so early Monday morning, our area is blessed with the presence of a thunderstorm. I woke around my usual time for my pills and crawled back into bed. That's my 5:40 a.m. routine. I think about half an hour later, I'm still awake, and I hear it start to rain. My windows were open at that time so I shut them on the offchance it would rain hard enough to get everything inside wet. Then the lightning starts to flash, and the thunder makes itself known. There was one roll that was really loud and it startled me. It startled the dog, too, but I managed to keep her from bolting out of my bedroom. I also felt very awake after that, but I stayed in bed, hoping to dredge at least another hour or so of rest.
I got it.
So my day goes by, and there are some things I'm not happy about . . . like my food assistance being cut from $182 a month to $80 a month. O_O That's crazy! Other than that, I get through, and I open my windows again so my room doesn't become ungodly. (Oh, and particle mann had to finally tell me what he thought of my newest Transformers piece. Earth without humans. I love the concept.) I love the warm weather outside, but not when I'm trying to get stuff done! That, and the cooler air helps my mom out so . . . yeah. I like my windows opened. ^_^
More thunderstorms for that night roll through. No big deal, we need the rain. This time, I don't shut my windows again. The rain hasn't been coming down at an angle so I'm not worried about it getting into the house. Sam (my cat) and I are all comfy in bed when the LOUDEST bang of thunder I have EVER heard rocks around the house.
HOLY SHIT!!! It wasn't a bang. It was a whip and a crack and then some! I started to scramble out of my bed as it was going off and Sam ran for cover. I have never been scared by thunder like that ever.
After it was over, I'm back under my covers, thinking, "Gee. I could do some work on my book right about now." I was that awake. It took me an hour (at least) to even feel sleepy again.
I'm laughing about it now. Hell, I was laughing about it after the fact, too. Not every day you hear thunder like that!
