Moar updates
My dad's home from the hospital now (still has the shunt and drain in his head), and was impatient with me when I inadvertently called during the Superbowl halftime show. So he seems to be getting back to normal :> He'd asked my mother to take a photo of his head while he was in hospital and she told me she hoped it wouldn't go up on Facebook, so of course he promptly posted it on FB :> That's my dad...
He says the doctors give a 20% chance that the problem will re-occur, so I guess we'll have to be vigilant and prepared for it to happen again. And hope for the best.
