Another update
So the news is good (fingers still crossed) -- my dad had the less-invasive surgery today and it seems to have gone well. He did need to have two holes drilled in his head, though. I haven't talked to him, but my mother seems optimistic. I guess I'm enough of a pessimist to figure things aren't over just yet, especially because we still don't know what caused it, but I'm really relieved it all seems to be going well so far. And so glad it was handled quickly and efficiently.
In other news, at the rock and mineral club meeting tonight I got to hold a real Neanderthal tool which is kind of a huge thrill, and also won a pretty amethyst crystal in the raffle. I enter the raffle every month and rarely win anything (there are multiple winners each time). And Neanderthal tool OMG.
After a really shitty week, this has been a very good day :) But I'm utterly wiped, and will be going to bed early.
