Unlike the seasons, which at least make some sort of sense in how they are arranged[1], the New Year seems so arbitrary. Other cultures set their New Year to a particular historic event. I would imagine -- though I do not know for sure -- that some cultures have the New Year fall at some logical point based on the length of the daylight hours or ( Read more... )

So, as my last voice post stated, I went shopping last night at the Towson Mall, mostly for my fiancée. I had such a wonderful time.

I have never liked Hallowe'en. Little at all about ghosts and spirits and the underworld has any appeal to me, I dislike dressing up in costumes, I dislike talking to strangers, I don't really like most candy, scaring people bores me and I am hard to scare (nor do I find it enjoyable), and I think vandalism[1] is disgusting.
