Yes, well. I suppose I should update again, particularly since I have NEWS and some of you are not in the one group where I regularly post. Herewith, the NEWS.
Last week, the Beloved and I decided to get married. It will be a very small, informal affair, to be held either 10 or 17 December in a local friend's living room with another pair of friends and their baby in attendance. Our families are scattered, so we aren't asking them to drop everything and buy expensive plane tickets. My folks are visiting in the spring anyway and have sent their blessing. He hasn't actually told his folks yet, but they are also very practical sorts, so we don't expect distress on their end, either.

- Engagement ring - No. We doesn't wants it, Preciousssss.
- Wedding rings - Yes, because the Beloved insists. (He has a romantic streak that jumps out to surprise me now and again.)
- Engraved invitations - Snort.
- Selecting china and silver patterns - Hell no.
- Registering for gifts - No. We've lived together nearly 9 years and are in a 5-room flat - we have enough stuff. If pushed, we'll suggest donations to causes we support.
- Wedding dress - maybe, sort of. I am considering making something like a long jacket/coat (is that a frock coat?) that I could wear again on other occasions.
- Honeymoon - Does a trip to the grocery store count?
- Health and dental insurance coverage for the Beloved - YES!!!!! The Real Precioussss!!!
Yea verily: yet another marriage prompted by crass economic considerations. It's something we might eventually have done anyway, but not right this moment. My work status will shift again in December, restoring my benefits, and I figured what better reason to marry someone you love than to help protect his health and life?
