Wow! As a social researcher looking at these questions, I'm inferring there must be some Wagnerian-level Sturm und Dreng around the be/de/mutual friending thing.
And I thought "friending" in LJ was just about trying to keep up with the lives of folks one already knows outside of LJ and/or reading entries by LJ folks whose writing one enjoys. Obviously, I missed the clue bus somewhere along the way. I look forward to the analysis in the article.
