Venting about Target
I am seriously pissed off right now. Maybe it is because I'm sick that I am making a bigger deal out of this than should be but right now I need to vent. I don't understand the chain of command Target style all that well but the chick I am referring to I believe would be the person who oversees the front lanes or HR or 3nd in command period. Needless to say she is up there in the food pyramid. This woman never really was friendly towards me and occationally makes "constructive comments" which could be phrased a LOT better. Today was a pretty busy day and I didn't have any down time except for my breaks. Before I begin to rant let me say I can see her point in a lot of things so she wasn't wrong to correct me,but it was how she did it that upset me.
1.) I allowed a guest to ring up thier water which was in the cart instead of going around or having them lift it. I didn't realize this was a problem (I've been doing it periodically for 3 months and nothing has been said till now) so this woman who from this point on will be refered to as "SHE" comes up to me and says " X (the person right above her) saw you letting a guest can something, they are NOT on the payroll you CAN'T do that!"
2.) I was scheduled to work 2-10pm. I finish up my last guest at like 10:03 (some are still being rung up at one of the other 3 registers) and go to punch out. She stops me and say I can't leave until the front lanes are clean, bags are out and see spot is organized. I was a little surprized because I was told that Target wants you to punch out as close to your scheduled time as possible (especially if you are 8 hrs). Also what is the point of scheduling people till 10:15 if everyone has to stay?
Needless to say it was 10:30 when I was told I could leave.
3.) For this one I was totally in the WRONG and I admitted that to her as soon as she called me over without her saying anything first. It was 10pm and a guest was in express (I was cleaning up over there) buying gifts for his son's birthday tomorrow (I could hear him talking about it as he was being rung up). He was right a check and it asked for ID. He didn't have it and created a HUGE stink saying
"I always shop at Target and never have been asked before (his bill was $170. so it automatically would). I brought my birth certificate, SS card, speeding tickets I recieved from going to fast in my new truck in case I was asked. This is crazy I build sky scrapers down town and make $40/hr."
SHE was trying to explain to him the policy and how we have to scan it. Then SHE called over her higher up referred to previously as X who was trying to do the same. I overstepped my boundries and interviened in attempt to bring peace from the sidelines saying "Sir if you buy anything over $100 it promps for ID ." X quickly shot me a look as she snipped my name. The guy I guess tried reducing his order but I guess he was flagged again and just had to leave.
SHE confronted me and before she even could say it I said I know what Idid was wrong, I overstepped my boundries and I was really sorry. She proceeded to tell me I should read over the employee handbook or whatever it is because I've been having some problems understanding whats in my job discription.
I KNOW she isn't targeting me personally and that she just wants the store run well (or everything "brand" as she says). Her job isn't an easy one and it is nothing personal against her but AHHHHHHHHHH it is just infuriating sometimes.
