ready, set, breathe

Where has this summer gone? I feel like it is slithering right out the door and I haven’t even had a chance to get outside and enjoy it. The skies have been largely overcast the past two weeks, the mountains in the distance ever-shifting color due to the constant changes in the light. One minute, rain, next minute, sun, so on and so forth. Monsoons. I do find myself curling up in the outside couch on a regular basis, both morning and evening, to catch the brisk morning air or an evening sunset, or especially if it starts raining.

My new position at work is good, but trying. Making the distinction between being a writer and being an editor is requiring a different mindset, and having to learn where to draw the line between editing and rewriting someone’s work. It’s a challenge, but I tell you what-it makes me very aware of my own word usage. I feel very guilty about any story I’ve ever written where I haven’t put in 120%.

I will probably be making a trip to Arizona soon. I miss that desert.
