So, Ireland was supposed to get hit by a hurricane this weekend! Well, not really a hurricane, but one of the sort of tendrils of Tomas was supposed to send a bit of a storm surge and some thunder showers with moderately strong winds our way, and Ireland's weather is so monotonous that everyone's like OMG HURRICANE AND FLOODING !!!11!!!! EYE OF THE STORM!!!1!!!!
Admittedly, the wind in Ireland can get pretty fierce, as displayed by the roof of our current building coming off in a windstorm a couple years ago, and the flooding could be severe enough to close down some roads and make coastal villages uncomfortable, but the fact that news outlets are claiming "Hurricane Tomas will flood Galway, Dublin and Cork" is enough of a hyperbole to make me laugh.
Anyway, it's 6:07 in the evening, and looking outside there's no sign of wind nor rain, and supposedly this is supposed to be a flash storm, leaving tonight mostly clear. So I decide to look on met.ie and find out where exactly this "hurricane" is...
Turns out it's pretty much everywhere except for Dublin (where the red circle is). Lucky us!
update 15 minutes later:
looks like we are literally the only place in Ireland where it's not pissing.
