Art:: Supernatural "Deliver Me ..."

Occassionally I have several ideas based on the one painting, and I end up doing several versions. This is a (massive) repaint of the art I did for the 2009 SPNJ2 Bigbang for strangeandcharm 's Dean/Castiel story "Three's A Crowd" . The original painting is here - NSFW Dean/Cas . I had a more gen-ish variation in mind for an alternate version.

The art is still mildly not safe for work due to non-explicit nudity.

Beta for the original version by ashlan, mischief5, and steammmpunk. Cas rescues Dean from a nightmare of hell. I figure the actual rescue involved more Angelic trueform (and therefore unpaintable!) but in this nightmare version, I can have Cas-as-Jimmy in biblical style costume, visible wings, the amulet providing a guide, and Dean picturing himself sloughing off a demon aspect (batwings, claws and a hint of scales).

I've been working on this painting a bit at a time for more than a year and it has changed a lot in that time. Primarily an exercise in painting skin tones, and use of colour, plus some anatomy practice. The light looks a little odd, mostly because I wanted an element of light from within their bodies rather than purely from an external light source. Wacom tablet and Painter X.

Close up of the faces (still not entirely happy with Dean's likeness):
