Questions of a Musical Nature

First of all - Happy TARsday everybodeeeee! Hey mlleelizabeth, hey_miss_missy, shannenb and all my other TAR girls - we've pulled chicklet_girl into the sexy clutches of Phil and the Eyebrows! Something to be proud of, I think. Then again - who could resist?

Secondly, I found out last night that my cousin is going to ask his boyfriend to marry him! But that's on the DL for another month and a half or so, so word=mums. All's I'm saying is he better not steal my wedding thunder.

Alright, I have a few questions about pop music than anyone should feel welcome to shed some light upon -

1. Based on several lyrics, I have this theory that Anthony Kiedis is gay, or at least enjoys the intercourse with males. Thoughts?

2. Why, for the sweet love, did Natalie Merchant feel compelled to cover "In the Ghetto"? This absolutely mystifies me. Though I have to give her props for getting Michael Stipe to duet with her on "To Sir with Love". Him singing that song is something everyone should hear.

3. What the fuck happened to Liz Phair? Remember when it she was all indy and naughty and kinda feminist and shit? Remember when listening to Liz Phair meant you were a certain kind of girl (the kind who gives good head)? So her new single sucks a crooked one and Salon had this article all defending her because, according to Liz, this is the sound she was going for all along. The fuck? Liz - if it's commercial appeal you want, make another album reminiscent of, oh, I don't know - THAT ONE ALBUM EVERYONE LOVES. This shit sounds like it could be included on The Soundtrack To Lana Lang's Utterly Tragic Existence, which is so not a good sign.

4. Yoohoo, rhiannonhero *waving* - I have the best intentions of writing something for your Cure song title challenge. Really. I'm going to listen to Disintegration tonight and see what transpires.
