Novena for the Resurrection Retreat

Feb 10, 2011 20:36

The Rez retreat is fast approaching, and Mario has asked all of us on team to pray a Novena to the Holy Spirit in the remaining days leading up to it. I just wanted to share the parts that really moved me :)

Today's Intention: Jesus, we ask that as we begin this novena that your Holy Spirit would guide and orchestrate every component of our lives. Be Lord of our lives and may we do all for the greater glory of your Name and for the salvation of our souls and the souls that we will encounter. Amen.

Scripture:
"Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name."
- 1 Peter 4:12-16

From the closing prayer:
Come, You who best console the lonely heart, Refuge in danger, Protector in distress.
Come, You who cleanse the soul of every stain, and heal all its wounds.
Come, Strength of the weak, Support of those on the verge of falling [...]
Come, Father of the fatherless, Hope of the poor, Treasure of those in need.
[...] Come, Holy Spirit, and have mercy on me.

Amen!
