first off, greenpeace uses political means to environmental ends. this is necessary because most of the time, corporations that are enviromentally irresponsible aren't held accountable for their actions (or failure to act in an environmentally-sound way) by governments. so greenpeace lobbies in order to make legislation that requires them to clean up their acts. so, greenpeace has to get political in order to make change.

greenpeace isn't, however, a political party, nor do we endorse political parties. greenpeace is, first and foremost, an environmental organisation. environmental issues are always the focus of its actions.

as for the attractive young people bit, i don't know if that's true. there are 18 canvassers in the toronto office, and we're (mostly) all young and attractive. but the fact is, we have to be outside all day, trying to get people to talk to us. people tend to be more responsive to young, attractive people. we're out there trying to raise money for many, many environmental issues, not for political issues.

do you remember the name of the guy who left greenpeace? is it the same dude who left because he didn't feel that greenpeace was militant enough and after leaving, bought a boat with which to ram other boats? if so, that guy's a little wacko. also, which political issues are those that the guy said greenpeace was trying to further?
