So, I may be sort of incommunicado for a few days - the MacBook has freaked out on me AGAIN. It was frozen - no cursor, no clock update, no nothing - when I woke it up this evening, and when I rebooted, it tried to start up, but the little pinwheel timer under the apple just kept spinning and spinning, and then it finally shut back down. It didn't even make it to the OS startup. So, yeah. Probably fuxxored. AGAIN.
I'm a little pissed because I haven't done a full backup on the external drive since I got the new hard drive, only spotty backups of crucial stuff - mainly the various fiction folders I've been working in - along with some recent music files. Fortunately, I did that just a couple of days ago, although goddammit, I had finally worked out a transition section in poemate meo more recently than that, which hasn't been backed up, yet, and I really don't want that to be gone.
Also, I did not need this to happen two weeks before I have my final web design project due and less than a week before signups for the Oz Big Bang are supposed to open. If they have to ship the thing off for a week, AGAIN, when I barely had it back, I'm going to be plenty pissed.
OTOH, I suppose I'll have plenty of time during the rest of the week to work on my grandmother's 80th birthday shawl. Also, to finish reading those library books that are due on the 30th.
UGH.
FABULOUS. In that way that, you know. Totally ISN'T.
ETA: Internets Mac forum conventional wisdom seems to be that it's likely some directory corruption. I'm not fucking with it tonight, but I'm hoping Support can walk me through something that will repair the problem when I call them tomorrow AM or that, worst-case scenario, I can take it into the Genusii for the appointment I've already booked tomorrow afternoon and they can repair the problem right away. Apparently it can mean your hard drive is starting to die, but I do not think anyone at Apple wants to deal with me if this hard drive is toast, less than six months after it was installed. OMG, fist of fury, y'all.
