Megamind!
Ok guys, I just saw Megamind in 3D tonight and it was fantastic. There was not a moment that I did not adore. Well, ok, there were a couple cliche moments that were a little distracting, but not bad enough to pull me out of the film or overturn my enjoyment of the rest of it.
But seriously, it hits almost every one of our Lex Apologist buttons. All the motivations that we ascribe to Lex are Megamind's motivations (except the part about wanting to get into the hero's pants, but you know, kid's movie). Also the general theme of the film, that you can choose your destiny will appeal to all of us who are bitter about the determinism of SV.
Will Farrel is great, Tina Fey is frikkin amazing, and the rest of the cast is stella. The 3D was great (if you're into that sort of thing). It is definitely not a film you'll watch and then be bitter that you shelled out an extra $5 to $10 bucks for the glasses (*cough* avatar *cough*).
And it's pretty much straight up Superman parody, which I totally loved. Some of the critics I've read complained that it was derivative (which it totally is), but it's satire, and it's great. The bit where Will Farrel parodies Marlon Brando was awesome.
So yeah, if you want to watch a movie that will hit almost all the same buttons as a good cracky fanfic, this is totally your movie.
