Metropolis; the city of tomorrow and industrial hub of intense complexity. Oftentimes this extreme power goes beyond the comprehension of some of the world’s greatest minds and technological philosophers. The nation is often both perplexed and intrigued by the products that manufacture there and with good reason. Recent research in several ( Read more... )

It was only a few days but from the destroyed look of her apartment one would have thought she was leaving for a month. A feat that was particularly impressive considering she lost everything in the fire and was still trying to build back up to what she had. She thought she was doing the responsible thing by focusing on home furnishings first but when she pulled out every stitch of clothes she owned and saw just how little she had, she was kicking herself. Angel went out twice with the intention of getting a new outfit and bathing suit but in the end, she had to settle on the swimwear and opted to just go with simple white sundress she already owned. Shorts and a top along with a sweater and something formal were added to the vintage overnight train case. She only hoped that Lex wasn't planning anything too extravagant ( ... )

The bellhop blinked at his patron with a shy look that was hardly marked with professionalism. He hadn’t a clue as to who was on the other side of the door and as far as he could tell, room service wasn’t allowed up yet until she was contented in her settings. They had strict instruction not to bother her, yet tend to her needs without overdoing it. He followed her to the door waiting obediently as she opened it to reveal the man behind the means, Lex Luthor. The bellhop grew obviously nervous and intent to leave ( ... )

"No no. They have been so nice." She reassured him as she reached for his hand. It was hard not to notice how rumpled he was but she wasn't going to draw attention to it. "I haven't even started to settle but I didn't bring much so there isn't much to settle. Please come in."

Gently, she tugged on his hand and nodded to the bellhop who was finally allowed to make a hasty exit. "Have you ever been here before? It's gorgeous. Look at this view." Almost skipping to one of the side tables, she picked up a remote and made the blinds open.

He felt her small fingers curl around his hand, his palms slightly moistened by the rush of things, but he decided not to pull back. Instead he was lured into her suite, pleasantly occupied by her sated words. “I’m glad you like it, Angel,” he replied with a quick shuffle to adjust himself with his free hand. “Really-take as much time as you need ( ... )

"The Big Apricot? That's so cute." She giggled and took a step back so they were side by side looking out the window. "It's beautiful. Are there a lot of Meta-Humans here? They aren't out in the open right? People hide it? Is there any sort of registry?"

Honestly, if there wasn't it would almost be enough to make her seriously consider a place like Metropolis. She loved New York. It was her home but a place with others like her that weren't subject to the mutant registry was pretty tempting. It could be like those circus people communities or the ones for little people. A whole city where they could just be themselves without persecution.

It was a good thing he couldn't read minds. Sitting there imagining some sort of mutant utopia. She had to be out of her mind.

"So what's first? Should I let you go so you can get cleaned up or is it something we can do as is?"

His eyes came away from the window now, laying over her once more in consideration. The thoughts of being the perfect host were broken by her charming giggle and Lex laughed smoothly ( ... )

"Museum? Really? That's so amazing. Can we see it? Not tonight of course but tomorrow maybe?" She asked glancing up at him.

Blushing a little, she smiled up at him and gave his hands a squeeze. "You don't have to explain. I know you're a busy guy. I'm beyond flattered that you even invited me out here. I can't wait to here your news though. You look so excited."

"You don't have to thank me, Lex. You're my friend. At least a friend. Maybe... Well, I don't want to assume anything but I care about you. In a very short amount of time, you've grown to mean a lot to me. That's actually not as easy as you might think. I'm friendly enough but it's hard for me to trust people. I'm not going to quit on you now."

“Of course I’ll take you to see it,” he nodded with a half smile. Why anyone in their right mind would want to see a token of The Flash was beyond him, but Lex Luthor wasn’t much for the superhero types to begin with ( ... )

He took longer to get ready than she did which struck her as funny. She hoped it didn't meant that he was getting really really dressed up. He'd never really said just how dressed up they were getting so she kept it basic with a little black dress. It had a bit of sparkle so it could work for most dressy places but the shortness of the skirt kept it from being too formal. Plus she left her hair down.

Twice she almost called him to ask while she waited then decided to see if she could wrangle it out of the concierge downstairs. He said she could wander.

He hadn’t really paid attention to the flow of time, but he knew it was passing quickly so he made an extra effort to hurry along to meet his pending guest. Their weekend awaited them with growing impatience and the sun was but a forgotten glow in the blanket of darkness that was laid over the city of Metropolis.

He knocked quietly on her door, adjusted his tie and stood readily awaiting. When she would answer, Lex would be seen in a casual formal light. A simple black suit from slacks to blazer and a smooth lavender chemise with a deeper black tie and lightly musked with mild fragrance-he was set. Lex held out to her a single yellow rose, the stem glossy and shaped with protruding leaves and a vibrant blossom.

“Are you ready then, Angel?” he inquired seeing that obviously she had been considering her stunning appearance.

"Boy, you clean up nice." She greeted him with a smile accepting the rose and taking his arm. The flower was gorgeous though with yellow it was hard to know what that meant. A yellow rose was for friendship but it was also her favorite color and he might know that.

The redhead let him lead the way as she got a bit girlie over her flower. "So where are we going? You know, you have the most loyal staff I've ever seen. I couldn't get anything out of anyone. It was a little frustrating actually. I hope I dressed okay."

Resourceful and cunning, Lex knew a lot about a lot of things and yellow being Angel’s favorite color was more of a happenstance than a gain of knowledge through his notorious prying. He wasn’t about to do that with her-not after getting this chance to show her the man that he truly was ( ... )

Her hand on his arm squeezed excitedly as the elevator went up instead of down. There was no telling what he had planned. She hoped it didn't involve a helicopter though. She didn't fly so well inside a metal coffin. Given that she could fly without it just felt very unnatural.

"Oh my gosh" She whispered as her green eyes got huge. "Oh Lex..." The view was spectacular and it was possibly the most romantic setting she'd ever seen. Her gaze darted around unsure where to focus first. The decorations were incredible, the view took her breath away, but the music drew her attention to the violinist. It was a familiar tune that he played beautifully. Angel smiled and the man smiled back before Angel turned back to Lex hugging his arm.

"Everything is perfect. Thank you."
