Costume Inspiration

Macross frontier was another anime series that I throurally enjoyed watching. I felt that none of the female character really suited me that well, so it was back to crossplaying. I loved mikhail as a character and picked his school uniform costume as a nice casual cosplay that I could fit around my other costumes during a convention.

Costume Debuted at: Minami con 16

Also worn at: Auchinawa 2010

Construction Details

Cost: £60

Time: 40 hours

All of this costume was bought and altered. I managed to find a nice blue pair of formal trousers on Ebay which were perfect. The shirt and belt were bought from primark. I sewed blue fabric onto the shoulders and used a fabric pen to draw the pattern onto the shirt. I designed and embroidered the flight academy badge using my embroidery machine. It was the first time that I had used my machine so it took several attempts to learn how to use the software.

I bought a set of small elf ears from Aradani costumes, together with spirit gum, remover and flesh toned latex. These ears where perfect for mikhail and gave a really natural result in photographs.

I bought the same style of wig that I used for schneizel and created mikhail’s iconic hair line using loose hair extensions. I make the false hairline in a same way that I made jessies, using PVA glue set set strands of hair into a point and hot glue to securen them onto the base wig.
