Royal Albert Hall, London, England.
Last week I went to London for the first
Distant Worlds concert at a reachable and affordable distance to me. I got tickets for Stockholm last year, but was eventually unable to go.
After the fiasco of Symphonic Fantasies in 2009, I was dying to listen to
Liberi Fatali live. They played it first of all and I was a sobbing mess. Even despite of their weird-ass pronunciation of /wicos/ as /wecos/, it was a wonderful way to commemorate the 10th anniversary of my playing such a wonderful and unforgettable game. I didn't get The Man With the Machine Gun, as was also my hope, but at least they played Don't Be Afraid and Eyes On Me, with a video compilation of the best Rinoa and Squall moments, down to the final smile, THAT smile, and the whole cast intro scenes.
Themes from all Final Fantasy Games got their spotlight, but the winners were V to VIII. The videos were a cool addition, although sometimes I closed my eyes to enjoy the music better. For the Opera of Maria and Draco, three soloists came out to sing. Composer Nobuo Uematsu, in his regular cook-with-bandana outfit, was made to join the chorus for the expected bonus One-Winged Angel that got the audience roaring like the fanboys they were: "You only need to know one word for this one: Sephiroth".
It was November 5th but we missed the fireworks after the concert. Back to the hotel, V for Vendetta was on TV.
