Sniper has the ability to mark his target with bullseyes forming a cross, and then having everything he throws or shoots follow the target until they either stop it or die. Therefore, the target cannot get distracted for a second or even sleep, since there will always be something coming after.
In that intermission before they reached the enemy's lair, Yusuke had performed a Brandon Walsh and had gone off to pursue Sensui's gang who had just kidnapped Kuwabara. Sniper catches up with him from behind on his motorbike, and this is what happens next:
"Now you will never be able to run away from me" ...baby!!
That line sounds right out of a BL manga, you know.
Sniper then drives away and starts shooting/throwing him stuff from the distance, stuff that include rocks, knives of all sizes and finally...
A GAS TRUCK!!!
And Sniper is not even waiting for Yusuke to get tired.
He's going to blow it right then and there.
"Bye bye."
(There he looks like the lovechild of Rukawa and Hiyoshi, doesn't he? He's almost screaming "Gekokujou da, doaho!")
However, you turn the page and:
Hiei is back, and he's gonna save Yusuke's reputation. Hey-la, hey-la.
Hiei's come from behind after saving Yusuke (look at him in all fours at Hiei's mercy!) and stabbed through Sniper.
(Much, much later we'll learn that Hiei's been so skillful as to avoid any vital organ, or so Sniper tells Doctor.)
He can already smell the putrid air from the demon world he so itches to return to, and that air soothes him.
But first, he puts Yusuke's skills to the test. Both fight to death for several minutes until they are satisfied.
Yusuke then asks Hiei to please come with them to fight Sensui. Hiei doesn't care about anything as long as he can return home, but Yusuke offers to let him have the black tape of human sins, a precious item for the spiritual world. Hiei seems to be really interested in it.
That's the moment some stupid, lower demons choose to appear before them and underestimate them.
Ready, set...
Kill.
"Alright! It's time to get into the enemy's secret base."
And they join the others at the entrance of the cave. Seaman will offer to be their guide, and they initially split into two groups.
Until they reach Game master's territory.
