FIC: wage your war

Despite all the fantastic support from Dasha and Sarah?  I still ran into a bout of last-minute horror about the concept of posting this, and nearly didn't.  So... be gentle, I guess?  (Also, it's pretty damn short, so don't say I didn't warn you.)

I DIDN'T READ, I PROMISE. (;__; though)

I just wanted to say - YAY FOR POSTING, and I'm sorry, my AIM cut out and would not log back in. I had to go watch Chinga and Kill Switch instead. (And um, hot Mulder in the hospital bed, being all adorably confused? Certainly made me forget my frustrations).

BUT I'M SO EXCITED, and you can guarantee I'll be here on Friday, commenting on the story! ♥

LOL good! I saw a comment from you and immediately went, "Crap, don't cave, Emma!" *cracks whip*

No worries! I figured you were off making dinner or doing something more substantial than wasting time on AIM with me, lol. (Chinga is a pretty mediocre episode, but I love the Mulder shenanigans -- PENCILS! Also, Kill Switch is one of my faves from S5. Too awesome!)

I can't wait! I hope it's worth it for you. :)

No, I didn't, I didn't! I just stared at the pretty graphic for a bit and then quickly exited so I wouldn't read it. Man, this is one of the biggest tests of will I've had in awhile! I know it will be worth it, though. :D

But wasting time on AIM with you is one of my favourite things! Chinga TERRIFIES me, actually, it's much too gruesome for my taste. Plus, creepy child. (The hokey pokey? Seriously? :P) BUT I LOVE MULDER IN THIS EP. And Scully, actually, they're hilarious. I love how bored Mulder is without her there. Aww. It reminds me of War of the Coprophages a bit, with the constant phone convos. And Kill Switch is amazing, yet creepy, too? But yeah, I was pretty much laughing hysterically through the whole thing. But you know what's after Kill Switch! I'm so excited!

Of course it will be worth it, bb! (And um, that icon really is amazing :D Luckily, I have it too!)

That's a good girl! ;D I really do hope it'll be worth the wait; people seem to like it so far...

We're getting quite good at wasting the hours on AIM, aren't we? ;) I think the only part of Chinga that really, genuinely freaks me out is near the end, when the mother starts hitting herself with the hammer. GAH. As for Kill Switch, I just love that episode. It was The Matrix before The Matrix even existed! And the teaser is killer.

GUH I PROBABLY WON'T BE ABLE TO READ IT TILL TOMORROW NIGHT NOW. I watched Patient X but didn't get time for The Red and the Black!! *cries* BUT LOOK AT ALL THOSE COMMENTS, Z :D Yay!

I hate that part with the hammer omg. I also hate when that woman SLITS HER THORAT OPEN with the record! And the gouging of the faces at the beginning, but at the same time, I'm cracking up at the people who are slapping themselves in the face. I clearly find slapping amusing?

It was The Matrix before The Matrix even existed!
Ha, so true. It's amazing how many others shows/films I see in the X-Files, I think it inspired so much.

I watched Bad Blood, though! Gosh, it's so brilliantly crafted. I really like to watch Scully's perception of 'Mulder' and Mulder's 'Scully'. :D

Hee, keep it together, you! It's not going anywhere. ;)

Oh man, that's right. I think I usually have to look away when the old woman bites it with the record (I'm weirdly squeamish about cuts and slices and... things).

It's amazing how many others shows/films I see in the X-Files, I think it inspired so much.
Oh, believe me, they did. Not only in television, but also in film (because it was a very cinematic show). That's another thing I could probably write a small dissertation on, lol, the impact XF has had on media production.

Had you seen Bad Blood before? It's such a classic! Vince G. is the man!

OKAY Z, I'M HERE! I actually read this last night, but I had work today and I didn't want to rush my comment, because I JUST LOVED IT SO MUCH.

I was trying to work out exactly why it is that your fics always astound me so much, and I've come to the conclusion that it's your wording and sentence structure. I don't want that to sound weird, but how the sentences and words are put together is just jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Example:

He feels her lungs expand and contract between them, steadies himself by the compass of her stubborn vitality.
I mean ... what a stunning sentence. I could read just that over and over. It is perfection.

I also adored the description of how large he feels in the bathroom, because it's so real and believeable.
He feels awkward and oafish by comparison in the confines of her bathroom, though it's larger than his own. It's as though he's making a mess of it just by occupying it, much in the same way he's made a mess of her career, her ambitions, her life.Apart from all that, I would also have to say that ( ... )

Aww, sweetie! You are so adorable, thank you.

That doesn't sound weird, that sounds absolutely lovely! I'm so glad that you feel that way, because I'm kind of particular about exactly that (not just in what I write, but what I read).

I would also have to say that this fits in my personal canon now, too.
Yay! That's what I was hoping for! :D

please post more snippets, and if I never get to see your big fic, I feel like my heart may break.
LOL you are such a blackmailer and enabler! But I will, someday, I promise! I mean, I have NO clue when, but it'll happen eventually!

THESE I WOULD HONESTLY LOVE TO READ. :DI ONLY WISH I HAD THE TIME TO WRITE SUCH A THING. D: Seriously though, just doing the research alone for something like that would be SO much fun ( ... )

I'm very particular about it too, and I tend to notice if it's either very good or very badly constructed. This is wonderful. Absolutely and completely.

Yay! That's what I was hoping for! :D
It's what I was hoping for, too!! So I'm glad it fit in just as I had hoped.

LOL you are such a blackmailer and enabler! But I will, someday, I promise!
>:) And proud of it. But I'm definitely holding you to that, because ... if these snippets are any indication, it'll be one of my favourite fics ever.

People often say it's a favorite for introducing newbies... I'm honestly stunned by that? It's an amaaaazing episode, there's no doubt about that, but that would honestly be one of the last episodes I would show a newbie. No newbie could possibly understand the humour and the witty banter and the genius of this episode if they didn't know the characters at least a little bit. I mean, the first time I saw it, it wasn't in order, but I'd seen at least 20-30 other episodes before. And I enjoyed it then, but not as much as I did the second time ( ... )

Ack! No pressure there! LOL.

Exactly! I also think it's... a tad overrated? I mean, don't get me wrong, I freaking love Bad Blood; it always makes me laugh, and it's Vince G., nearly impossible to go wrong there. However, I do feel that Darin Morgan's comedy was the very best, and would place his episodes above it, just slightly.

There's actually a very subtle moment between Mulder and Scully in Mind's Eye that I love (and I can't recall whether I noted it in the meta or not; unlikely, since I was focusing on the relationship between Marty and Mulder); he's talking about Marty, saying she wants them to believe she's strong and independent, that it's "important to her" but he shoots Scully a very significant look as he says it. Great stuff.
