What I see in you
Your small smile
sheepish and shy
a rare visitor
Small behind your mask
Searching, just like me
Hoping and hopeless
restless and resigned
Trying to feel despite your years
Hoping you haven't seen all there is to see
Maybe there is something more
You bow before your burden
and wear their labels well
With your eyes cast down
Letting their pomposity roll over you
Accepting that they will never truly see
Looking at the meaningless
And seeing all that's hidden
Silently reaching, hoping, waiting
for One to see it too
To fall in step beside you
and see the ghosts in all things
Waiting for One to know so you can tell
A single face to gaze upon
and find the door can open without the charade
And Be for once
Just your own self, glitter aside
Understood.
