N: Who's that guy?
Me: what?
N: Who is that guy? That guy right there. (Pointing to the computer screen)
Me: Oh, that guy is just there because it's a picture of someone wearing a sweater. I'm looking at it becaue I'm thinking of buying the sweater for Daddy.
N: Oh, well, I really like his pants.

We've also been having a lot of discussion about copyright laws around here.
N considering thoughtfully after reading me Inside, Outside, Upside Down by Stan and Jan Berenstain.
N: Are they going to have to pay money cause they copied this book?
me: What do you mean?
N: Are they going to have to pay money to the people from Upside Downton Abbey (a fine Sesame Street clip he's seen on Youtube) for copying them to make this book?
(My expert opinion was no, there is no infringement of copyright and anyway the Berenstain Bears book predates Upside Downton Abbey)

We've been on and adventure of learning new songs, some favor the Wassail song, others just want "Puff the Magic Dragon" sung over and over.
Today at dinner, the almost three year old turned to me and said,
"Momma, Yucky Paper came no more."
Up pipes the nine year old, "No. no, it's Jackie Paper. Puff would have been happy if yucky paper didn't come any more."
And then the nine year old sings his version of Kookaberra Sits in the Old Gum Tree (and his version totally violates copyright)
Cookie Monster sits in the old kitchen
Eating all the cookies that he can see
Stop! Cookie Monster, Stop! Cookie Monster
That's not a cookie that's me.

And that moment when you know you are doing a great job of civilizing your children . . .
You find them pounding on the table, shouting, "Dinner by Candlelight! Dinner by Candlelight!"
