Babies, babies, everywhere...

I know 6 people who are having a baby this year - J's coworker's wife, my coworker (she was due over the weekend, so it's any time now!), my train friend, Brian's Christine (who is not the maid of honour Christine that I often talk about), my cousin's wife, and now kelayrel (who took the place of J's other coworker's wife, who had her baby almost two weeks ( Read more... )

That's exactly it. I think to myself - we can more easily think about starting a family if we're done with the debt (if I want to be a stay at home mom). That won't be for a couple of years. But then it would also be much easier for me to go back to school once our debt is done, because we can't afford the bills and debt with only one income. But, the program I'm looking at is another 4 year Bachelor's degree. So. Let's say I'm 29 before the debt is paid off. If I go back to school after that, I'll be in school until I'm 33. Sure, 33 isn't a bad age to start, but how many kids will we want? How many years in between? I don't want to be having babies in my late 30s/early 40s, because I know of the increased risks as my age increases. *sigh* I've come to the conclusion that I won't likely be able to go back to school if we want to start a family, unless we can afford for me to be in school after having a baby...and would I want to be going to school full time with a child at home? Dunno. And wouldn't it be great to have a period of time where we were able to use the extra not-going-to-debt-anymore money for fun stuff/renos/whatever? Blah. I wish I had known what I wanted to do with my life sooner, this might have been easier :).
