Wedding update...

Thing 1: Bridesmaid dresses have FINALLY been chosen. The pattern is actually going to be a combo of two patterns. This one is for the straps, I think the fancy criss-cross on the back makes it look quite elegant, although makes the bra thing potentially complicated. This one is for the rest of the dress, floor length. I don't want it to be too ( Read more... )

If you have them get shoes to dye purple, they can dye them black afterwards. They couldn't go lighter, but they could definitely go darker.

Hmm...that's true. Do you by any chance know how much dying goes for?

You can usually get the shoes dyed at the same place you by them. When I was checking for the wedding I was in in June, it would have cost me $15 at one place, and $20 at another, and that's on top of the cost of the shoes, and the shoes run about $60 - $80.

What about black? I think black shoes can go with purple.

Who is your florist? Are they in Brampton?

Yeah, black can go with purple, although it's a lighter purple, so I'm wondering whether it's too light for black shoes. And it's a may wedding, so I dunno if they'd want something springier. I think the best thing to do is consult with them on it...I may have to conceed to the silver shoes, since white is probably hard to get in the winter (when they'll need them for alterations). *sigh* I don't know from shoes :).

Yep, the florist is in brampton, a little shop near my parents. An older lady who has owned the shop for about 11 years now, she seems very sweet. She tried to convince me that I should consider a cascade bouquet, since I had the height for it...I think she's a little crazy, because 5'6" is not that tall :). She wasn't pushy though, which was a nice thing :).

I've worn both white shoes and silver shoes with a purpley-mauvey dress - both actually look fine. I lean towards preferring the silver, but I think that's because I just liked the silver shoes better for fit, rather than anything to do with the colour.

If you don't want the actual silver, you can also just go for grey.

Hey pookie pie...

1. I vote silver. Silver shoes are just cool.

2. However, if the dresses are floor length, will anyone actually see the shoes anyway? Might it be easier for you if your girls each choose what they like so you don't have to worry about it?

3. Not sure if you've found your shoes yet...but here's my $0.02, for what it's worth...
GO FOR COMFORT!! You are going to be standing ALOT. And walking ALOT. The last thing you want is pretty shoes that HURT!
If anything...go super comfie for the majority of the day (Isotoner makes some really pretty satin slippers...I would have done this myself, but as the shortest person in my whole bridal party...I NEEDED heels) and change into your cutie pie shoes for the garter part.

3. If you need any help with your invites, let me know. I love invites!

Lots of love,
Wee Donovan's Mommy

Yeah, I think I might be leaning toward "let's just let the girls do whatever" with the shoes, I think I'll have a shoes conference with them to see what the majority wants to do.

As for my own shoes, I haven't found anything yet...I was hoping to during the summer, but I didn't find anything I liked. I do know there's a bridal shoe store in Woodbridge, and I've heard they're not too bad in price. It's going to be awfully hard to find white shoes in winter otherwise :). I do want to wear some kind of heel, since J is almost a foot taller than me :). But nothing insane, since like you said, I'll be on my feet all day. Knowing from BM experience, the toes could go numb if I'm wearing heels all damned day :).
