six times jiyong called seungri: 002/006
big bang, seungri/jiyong, g
AUTHOR's NOTE: spit this out sorta quick because a friend kept nagging at me. if it's "meh", then you know why~
The past few weeks have been a mix of highs and lows but Seungri likes to think that the past few days have definitely been more towards the higher end of the spectrum. Successful fansign events, being back on variety shows with his hyungs, subtly and effectively telling the Korean population there's nothing wrong with having sex but everything wrong with so easily believing lies in magazines.
Overall, when he thinks about it, this entire experience should be a good thing...right? He released his second mini-album. Second mini-album, when there were so many who didn't even have a first, so many who could only dream of breaking free from the confines of their groups to stand alone on their own. Six songs filled with the blood, sweat and tears he'd shed over the past year. The past year of which he'd been ready to hang up his hat on music altogether. Variety, he told himself, was where his talents really lied. He's glad he got snapped out of that phase, glad he was reminded of where his passion really stood.
Now he's seated in the van on the way back to his apartment after walking out of another successful fan sign event as he's all the more reminded of how glad he is that he didn't give any of this up. This is what counts. The fans. The people that support him no matter what. Seeing their faces when they see him, the way their eyes light up when he smiles at them or asks them their name, how happy they look when given a hug. Speaking of hugs...
His phone rings loudly as soon as he enters the code to unlock the front door, the sounds of hustlin', hustlin' blaring loud enough to echo throughout the foyer. One glance down at the caller ID has him waiting even longer to answer. Just because. This has always been a favorite game of his.
"What took you so long to answer?"
"Jiy-"
"It rang like five times. Where are you?"
"You were coun-"
"Yah. Really. What took you so long to answer?"
"Jiyo-"
"What took you s-"
"Oppa~"
Finally, there's silence on the other end of the line and a satisfied hum emits past his lips as he pictures Jiyong on the other end, cheeks flushed in a mix between embarrassment and adoration, the back of his hand lifted in an useless attempt to hide the grin probably overtaking his features.
"Oppa will be glad to know I just arrived back to my dorm in one piece."
"Stop calling me oppa. I'm your hyung."
"I thought you were my biggest fan. Was all that at the fansign earlier just a lie?"
The soft sigh on the other end didn't go unnoticed and Seungri's eyebrows furrowed in confusion once the call ended with a quiet click. He stared at the phone in disbelief, a frown present as he quickly tried to call back, only to have his actions stopped by warm arms slipping around his waist from behind, a pointy chin resting against his shoulder (not that Seungri minded).
"I told you I'd wait for you, didn't I?"
If it hadn't been for the soothing voice that had quickly followed, Seungri would've gone into attack mode (some of his karate moves from his younger years were still fresh on his brain) and attempted to flip the intruder over his shoulder or sunk an elbow into wherever he could get, but instead he melted into the touch after the initial moments of shock had passed. His tone suddenly playful and teasing, all the tiredness seemingly sucked away by the comfort of the embrace.
"You don't live with me anymore. This is breaking and entering."
"You gonna call a magazine on me? I'm so scared~"
They both fell into easy laughter, Seungri softly shoving an elbow into Jiyong's ribs as they broke apart, finally taking the opportunity to look at each other. The bags under their eyes didn't go unnoticed but neither one founds themselves particularly caring at the moment, too absorbed with how easily things fell into place when they were together, just the two of them.
No schedules, no deadlines, no comparisons, no devastating expectations.
Just leader and maknae. Hyung and dongsaeng. Jiyong and Seunghyun
They're sitting in the kitchen eating take-out that Jiyong had gotten from one of Seungri's favorite places, talking about everything and nothing all at the same time when a comfortable silence falls over them. It's then that Jiyong takes the opportunity to look, really look at the young man sitting across from him.
He hides them well but Jiyong has been a study of all things Seungri, all things Lee Seunghyun, for far too long not to notice what most others easily miss. The insecurities and worries hidden just below the surface. The way sometimes his smile doesn't quite reach all the way to his eyes. How he yearns for acceptance and recognition from those that he holds dear, and even more so from those that once shunned him. All the things that Jiyong wishes Seungri wouldn't give a shit about because who cares if some faceless usernames on the internet are too blind to see what's so obvious? To see how talented, how hard-working, how intelligent the man sitting across from him is (he'd like to see them accomplish even 1% of the things Seungri has at such a young age).
"Yah," Jiyong leans forward, giving a light flick to Seungri's forehead, "I'm proud of you."
"Eh?"
"You're amazing."
"Hyung...."
"I will always be your biggest fan."
By now Seungri has stopped eating, not sure how to take this sudden onslaught of compliments and praises other than a blush rising to his cheeks, and a quick roll of his eyes as he appears to brush this all off. Jiyong knows better, knows Seungri is storing all of this away for a day when he feels rock bottom but won't tell anyone, for a day when he needs the reassurance that he chose the right path, that there are more people who support him than those that don't. Their eyes finally meet, Jiyong flashing a smile that somehow over the years became specifically reserved for Seungri, for V.I., his Victory.
"Oppa, saranghae."
Seungri smiles back and Jiyong knows the sentiment is returned, even if it's not spoken because for the first time that evening, Seungri's smile finally reaches his eyes.
