Well, I am being much more lazy today than I had initially planned. I need to get in the shower and go up to Franklin Saddlery and get my bit that I ordered for Ziggy before they put it on the shelf and sell it to somebody else! I also need a saddle cover because the one Darby gave me with the saddle doesn't fit that well, and it gets REALLY SUPER dusty in the tack room, and I hate when my saddle is dirty. :p
I cleaned my bridle a few weeks ago and it was DISGUSTING from all the dust and crap that gets in there. Part of that is needing new footing in the arena, though, all the sand is broke down and Martha hasn't redone the footing in five years. :/
Plus, she uses it as a turnout for her stallion, who digs HOLES in the fucking thing, and then Zig trips when we're trotting and Martha keeps going, "I think he's off in the front." and I'm like, yeah, because he's afraid he's going to fall on his face with all these fucking holes, so he short strides here and there. He doesn't do it outside at all. And that arena STILL kind of sucks, but at least there aren't 4 inch deep craters everywhere. Sigh...
Anyway... Had a really good ride yesterday.
He was sooo good and we did some sitting trot, which REALLY makes him come up underneath himself, and I'm working on leg yields. No cantering yesterday, but it was soooo hot, I didn't wanna push it. We did an awful lot of trotting; circles, serpentines, leg yields, rein changes, etc. I'm finally starting to get totally comfortable again. Maura said I looked really relaxed, which is a nice change from how Domino made me. I also let him do a lot of trotting long and low on a really long rein. Like a stretchy circle. :) And I think I'm going to ignore Martha and ride Zig long and low at the trot for awhile, until he builds up his back end more, he was so much more forward when we did that and I think he was able to get his back more into it. He has been shown through 3rd level, but that was like 3 years ago, and his last owner only ever rode through training level, and he was out of work for about 6 months when I bought him. (Well, he'd been BACK in work for like a month, but that's not enough) She expects him to be able to just collect up instantly and I think she's nuts and wants way too much out of my poor old boy. So, I will work him MY way for awhile.. it's what I did with Domino, and he built up a very nice back end.. too nice, I think, since he then had the strength to toss me 20 yards. :p
I'm totally sore from yesterday, though, but it's actually pretty nice out today, so I'm going to try and get my butt to the barn and ride. Maura said she's be out around 4:30pm, so I'm going to try to meet her up there for a ride. She's riding Scarlet, because Leo got stifle injections on Monday. Blah... She's really worried about him, as he's got a lot of distension there... I think he'll be okay, though. I'm trying to work up the courage to show in intro at the end of August at Stony Ridge. I turn into a nervous wreck showing IN HAND, though, I'll probably throw up if I have to ride. Laugh.. Martha told me she's buying me a six pack to relax me at the show. :p
Went to see the Killers at Soaring Eagle on Saturday... Mt. Pleasant is a fuck all long drive. Got into a big argument with Tania on the way up which sorta sucked.
She was making fun of me for playing Everquest II and I told her I liked it and she should mind her own business, then she says, "My GOD, Tammy, that game is for people who like Dungeons & Dragons and comic books and anime and all that crap!" And I was like... "uhm... You pretty much just described ME!" Then she said that I was the exception and that "most" people into that sort of thing are introverted socially inept losers who had no friends in high school and so had to abandon reality. Well.. at this point I had steam coming out of my ears and I totally went OFF on her and made her cry. (yes, literally) Which, I sort of feel bad about, but *I WAS THE ONE FUCKING INSULTED*. Plus, I never said ANYTHING below the belt, I just told her that I was very offended and thought she was elitist and closed-minded, and that I never did have many friends in high school, because of all the popular jack asses who thought I was a dork BECAUSE I played AD&D and reading comic books and liking anime. I'm sorry, but I didn't "turn to AD&D out of a lack of friends". I won't say anything about what she says her "hobbies" were in high school, but I know I'd rather have my kids playing AD&D. :)
Anyway.. Mark told me I was mean, but that it was an admirable smack down and that she did deserve it. She is ALWAYS ripping on me for liking fantasy and anime and all the stuff and telling me to "grow up", or whatever. She can kiss my butt... her lifestyle isn't exactly anything to brag about. I still love her, though, even if she can be a dumb bitch. So, I will shut up now. =^_^=
Anyway, about the concert itself:
Louis XIV opened... it was pretty damned cool, despite a little bit of sprinkling before the show... Then the lead singer of LXIV came out during the Killers encore to watch and have a beer, and was signing autographs after the show was done, so we made Amber (Tania's 14yo) go over there, and she got her program and ticket stub signed and got a hug, so she was soooo totally geeked. It was adorable. The line merchandise was INSANE, so Tania told Amber she couldn't get a shirt, which I was grateful for. Anyway, Mark and I already got her a Killers shirt at the 89X 14th birthday bash. So, she doesn't need another one.
Off to the showers, I go, though... and then, to Bloomfield. I should probably try to stop by my mom's today, too, since it's my day off. Have to go to a birthday party on Saturday. (family thing, not fun thing... though I guess those two don't HAVE to be mutually exclusive. :) ) Been trying to talk Mark into going to Warp Tour with me, but he won't. Pout.
