Dear Yuletide Writer,
Thank you so much for offering to write at least one of these things that I asked for! I am sure that I will love whatever you come up with, because a) I am easy to please in general and b) I love these worlds and characters and anything about them is going to make my day. :)
I love crossovers, am okay with any rating, and can't think of any characters belonging to these canons who I would mind showing up in addition to the ones I specifically chose. By which I mean that whatever it is that we matched on that you are most inspired to write will surely end in something I will like.
I do, however, prefer happy endings and a light hand with the angst. (Not that everything has to be fluff, but I'd like it to end well.)
That's pretty much it. (Expanded versions of the optional details in my sign up are below. I promise not to edit anymore once assignments go out.)
Above all else, Yuletide Writer, HAVE FUN with whatever you write. That would make me the happiest of all. ♥
The Librarian: I kind of loved Bob Newhart to start with, and thought Judson was adorable. And then he turned out to be a secret badass and suddenly he was my favorite. Backstory would be loved, but so would anything in the canon time. If there's a sword in his hand at any point, I would be satisfied.
The Middleman: !!!!! I love the utter absurdity of this show as much as I love the Middleman's earnestness and Wendy's matter-of-fact acceptance of all the weird, and Lacey's commitment to ALL the causes, and Ida's ... Ida-ness. If you feel like revisiting any of their old foes (or if you just want a peek into what my brain likes), my particular favorites were Lizzie and Vladie the vampire puppets and Varsity Fanclub. (And I wish we'd seen more of Sensei Ping, but I make do with pretending that it's actually Sensei Ping, not the actor who played him, who is the Chairman on Iron Chef America. >_>)
I think this canon might lend itself particularly well to crossovers, so if you feel inspired in that direction go ahead and run with it. (I wanted to include a link to a discussion of amazing crossover ideas, but I don't remember where it happened. Basically, something like Fringe or X-Files or anything where someone is investigating something strange and comes across the MM crew would be comedy gold. So would any "New York"-based canon, including every superhero ever.) And I am making this text small so you will know that it is truly only a suggestion and I'm not trying to pressure you into anything, but the idea is there if you want it.
Spider-Man (Ultimateverse): What I have taken to calling May Parker's Home for Wayward Teenage Superheroes is my absolute favorite thing about Ultimate Spider-Man. Anything with the kids and May (or even mostly just May being her awesome self) would entertain me. Alternatively, something about MJ and Gwen's friendship, because holy awkward but they are both such great girls and I love them together. (Together together might be nice, now that I think of it, sometime in the future.)
Super Dictionary: Nothing, but nothing, cracks me up as much as the Super Dictionary. (I wish I had thought to nominate it myself so more characters could be listed. I mean, El Dragon isn't even in here! Next year, El Dragon. Next year.) I actually own a copy and every time I pick it up, I just cackle at its hilarity. Basically, anything based on any situation posed in any definition presented in this book is fodder for a great story. WHY is Green Lantern so fascinated with ducks? WHAT is going on with Hawkman and Hawkgirl? HOW does Robin always end up being tied up? CAN WE EVER KNOW THE FULL STORY?! I hope so, Yuletide Writer. I hope so.
