I just got back from a base out in Landstuhl (not sure about the spelling) where I went through a week of Combat Live Saver training. I'm now certified to treat all kinds of disgusting combat related injuries, from both bullets and bombs. I just got back yesterday. Now I am trying to finish packing up my studio and relocate to a smaller room in the secure section, which sucks cause I have really enjoyed being out here by myself in this huge shop. Oh well. I think either next week, or the week after, I am due to shoot over to the coast of Italy for a training support mission. That will be like two weeks, and three of those days on a ship. Should be interesting. I'll see if I can take pictures, if it's not classified or anything.
I got out of the habit of checking my mail, since I have only recieved 1 letter since I got here, for my birthday. As far as I know postage for letters going to an APO address should be the same as anywhere in the USA, regardless of the country it's headed for. APO addresses are considered to be US soil. You can ask the post office to confirm, but I'm pretty sure I'm right. I usually am (as you well know).
It sucks not being able to drive around yet. So much to see and too cold to walk. I miss my cd's dvd's and video games. I wouldn't mind seeing some of my old sketch books too.
Phone cards here suck, the problem with phone cards (and the reason I haven't bought any) is the fact that using them to call from Europe to America counts as Uber long distance. A half hour card MIGHT get you 10-15 minutes if you are lucky. I thought it was bad calling from FT. Jackson and Ft. Meade, but cripes. They get you for longs distance, PLUS they nail you on the exchange rate!. It's robbery I say.
I should have internet in my room by the end of the week, so I can write more often, but keep in mind I leave for Italy soon, and I'm not sure I'll have access during the trip. I'll let you know more about whats happening as soon as I know more. Oh yeah, in the next couple of months I MIGHT be in Las Vegas for a few days with my supervisor representing my section as a buyer at some kind of technology convention. They just told me about it, so I don't know the details. More on that later.
James out.
