a record of the times

I should really update more often if for nothing else then to be able to document things that happen with Nixon. He's finally at an age where he can play by himself for a little while. He just turned one on the 11th and it's so cliche but i really cannot believe how fast the time goes. I mean, to think that a year ago i had this tiny little newborn and now this same child is running with all his might down the hall, screaming with laughter. he is so independant and wants to do everything himself. He loves the outside, elmo, and plain yogurt. He will give anyone who will sit still a huge, slobbery kiss followed by a hug with his head on your shoulder. He loves to sing in his mysterious baby language and it makes him sad to watch mommy and daddy leave for work. He loves his cousin Isaijah and his tante Mandy (although I think Isaijah wins out here mandy....:). He loves to take baths and throw all of his toys out and then start over again. He loves dogs but knows to keep his distance when they bark at him. He has wonderful curls in his daddy colored hair. his fair skins starts turning red instantly in the sun. He loves cheerios and pulling all of my clothes down in my closet. He will dance to any music especially commercials. He will push your head out of the way if you get in the way of sesame street or the teletubbies. he still wakes up at 4am but will go back to sleep in mommy and daddy's bed for another hour or so. He loves to have books read to him but would rather tell you the story himself with a lot of "mamas", "dadas" and "das". He has a specfic whine when he wants to nurse and an all out cry when he wants something you won't give him. He still nurses at night and in the morning because mama just can't let go. He has learned the word "no" very well but still doesn't listen to it. He pushes his lower lip out and cries when there has been an injustice in his life. He is a picky eater and only wants what is on our plates or what he can't have. He loves to give other babies hugs and kisses even with all of their protests. He hates to have his clothes or diaper changed and would much rather be naked. he loves to play with shoes. He loves to play games on his computer and is a pro at peek-a-boo.

That is just a small part of what my little boy has become over this past year. it's just amazing. and with that said, Nixon is tugging at my pants because it's time for a nap and mommy would like one too.
