Leslie and Ben come down to breakfast on a Saturday morning. Their 12-year-olds are gathered around the kitchen table, staring intently at a computer screen.
Teddy waves them over. "Remember how you said we were finally old enough for sleepaway camp?"
"Oh! Is that the website of Indiana camps? I have so many recommendations. Bobby, there's a great sports camp up in Fort Wayne, and I think Abby would really love the history camp just outside Indianapolis. And Teddy, what about the drama camp on the Purdue campus?"
"Actually Mom and Dad," said Abby, looking up from the screen, "we were thinking of going to camp outside Indiana. The camp Oliver went to in the Upper Peninsula last summer looked really fun, and there's a girls' leadership camp in Texas I was thinking of going to."
"But Indiana's the best state in the country," her mom protested. "Why would you ever want to leave?"
"We love Indiana, but we want to see other places too," Bobby replied. "Dad traveled to lots of different places before he came to Pawnee, and that's how he knew he wanted to stay here. And it's also a chance for the three of us to be on our own, we've never been apart for more than a couple of days, not since Teddy had his tonsils removed."
Ben looked over and saw tears welling in his wife's eyes. "We just don't want you being too far away from family and friends, OK? Michigan sounds great, and we could look into camps in Minnesota too." he replied. "We'd feel better knowing you're just a car ride away. And then next year we can look into camps a little further away, if that's what you want. Is that OK with you guys?"
The triplets nodded.
"Awesome," said Ben, pulling a chair over. "So, did I ever tell you I was the captain three years in a row of my camp's baseball team?"
