Whatever doesn't kill us, only makes us stronger, right?

So I'm getting ready to make a cross-country move.  I'm working 35 hours a week while trying to take care of packing all my worldly possessions and all the other little details associated with moving.

Friday evening, I recieve the Bill of Lading for my move.  There is a note at the very end that any furniture pads or blankets, ramps, or tie-downs are the loader's (meaning me) responsibility.  WTF?!?  Of course, I get this information Friday evening, when no one answers the phone to help me.

On my one day off, Saturday, I scramble to find some place that offers furniture blankets.  UHAUL has them to purchase on their website, but delivery takes 5 to 10 business days; that won't work.  The local UHAUL rental places only have them available to rent for local moves; that won't work either.  So I pull out the phone book.

What joy!  I find an actually friendly moving company, headquartered in a nearby town!  AND they delivered the furniture blankets, dolly and bubble wrap I ordered THAT SAME DAY!  Plus, everyone I dealt with was super friendly and accommodating.  Why couldn't I have found this company back in June?!?!  Stupid Leslie ...

While I'm still kicking myself for that, I called the trucking company this morning about the ramp or ,rather, lack of ramp situation.  They informed me that the truck I requested (which allows for sealed dividers) does not have any ramps or lift gates and is 4 FEET off the ground.  So, I call the company who facilitated this ... they couldn't help me other than to suggest I purchase some plywood or 2x4 wood or I rent a UHAUL truck to act as a staging area for loading the larger truck.  WTF?!?!

Any suggestions?  I've called the super-friendly company to see if they have any ramps or supplies that I can either rent or purchase.  And I suppose I can go with 2x4 wood as a last resort ... What keeps hanging over my head is that I'll need to UNLOAD this stuff once it reaches Midland ... so whatever solution I come up with needs to be transportable and/or replaceable.
