Doctor Who: Space Rhinos are excellent things

It's the second time I've seen The Runaway Bride and I liked it even more this time around. Donna is loud and brash and noisy but she was also oddly reflective and perceptive. And saw the humour in it all. And slapping the Doctor will never not be fun to watch. Plus any woman who can run around through all of that mess and still keep her wedding ( Read more... )

I really enjoyed The Runaway Bride myself when it aired and I watched it a few times since. I especially loved the way Donna was all "you wha?" when the Doctor is telling her she's in the TARDIS and then starts shouting "That doesn't mean anything, you're just saying words!" Hee hee.

And the slapping bit. The slapping bit will never get old.

Why, yes, I am five. :)

I saw "The Runaway Bride" for the first time last night, and was puzzled by all the Donna hate I've seen lately. I kind of liked her, shallow silliness and all.

I haven't watched the first Martha ep yet, because we had a houseguest last night and I thought that one episode of DW was enough to inflict on him for one night. (Luckily I discovered that he likes The Deadliest Catch as much as we do, so we watched that for the rest of the night.)

I stay off most of the Who communities so hear about the Donna hate secondhand most of the time. I am guessing some of it is because she isn't a young, pretty thing whose clothes (like some of the old school companions) aren't likely to magically get smaller and smaller. Or as they always said on Old Who she isn't 'something for the dads.' (That phrase comes up a lot on commentaries).

Martha seems nice and cute and I am sure she will be an excellent companion, though I think Donna and David Tennant were more fun to watch in how they acted to together. Given how much I've enjoyed the casting for New Who I doubt that they'll screw up now. Actually, I really don't think that there's enough credit given to how well cast this show is as a rule: even if I don't like a character I usually think the actor/ress is pretty good.

Hi there. Sorry to stalk you to your personal journal, but I couldn't find a way to contact you otherwise.

I was wondering if I could promote my community oncoming_recaps in your community doctard.

The oncoming_recaps community was created to attempt to reverse the regrettable decision by the website Television Without Pity (aka TWoP) to cancel their recaps of Doctor Who ( ... )

No problem. If you could stick in a doctard line in your post that would be lovely (for we are nothing if not *committed* insane shippers).

Oh anything is fine - we're not picky. Well, we can't afford to be, really, not with a 'ship like ours. *g*

Maybe a ps. with a bit about how this will surely help promote the true eternal love of doctard. Because clearly that his what the series is about. :)
