☆ Stardust rant.

I just saw the trailer for Stardust... And I have to say that it doesn't give me the same feeling as the novel. From the first 30 seconds, it already seemed too.. commercialized. :\

Claire Danes playing Yvaine is fine, but how she spoke her first words in the trailer already made me go DDDD: "Yeah, this is where I fell," and then she enthusiastically confirms Tristan's speculation of her being the star. Her portrayal didn't seem mysterious/ethereal to me. Dood, the star is not supposed to be happy that he's there! She's wary and suspicious of Tristan and is cold to him when they first meet. And Victoria is supposed to be cold to him too, but it seems like she's having fun being with him at the start of the trailer..AND Tristan actually prepares for the journey; he doesn't just jump through a crack in the wall without carrying anything. :\ But I think Michelle Pfeiffer was a good choice for the witch queen.

I don't know. I doubt they'll follow the story exactly, as most movie adaptations aren't in the habit of doing, but Gaiman still had a hand in making the screenplay, so I hope the movie can stick to the original story as much as possible.

Well, I'm still going to see it when it comes out in August. It just feels too Hollywood for a Gaiman novel. :\ ..Which reminds me, I still have to get my hands on Mirrormask.
