You don't have to have female role models. No one "has" to have any role models. But we do all have role models--it's the way that we're made being born to parents and nurtured by adults as we age.

I just don't see why we shouldn't long for female ones. It makes one a more whole person to see people of different genders, and I would add here of different ethnicities/cultures, as heros and mentors. Otherwise it seems to me I'm limiting the possibilities of how I can potentially grow and mature as a human being.

It just seems to makes for a healthier outlook on life and self. People who seek out men and women of all cultures to emulate have, in my experience, the best relationships with God and other people because their understanding of self and life has been greatly diversified.

I completely agree that seeing/hearing different viewpoints makes a person more well-rounded as a whole. It is very sad that there isn't more diversity among Christian leaders in this country (and probably the world, though I'm completely ignorant of the diversity or lack thereof outside of USA). I do think it would be nice to have more female "powerhouse preachers" so that more people could be reached. I also think it would greatly contribute to Christian women's emotional/spiritual health ( ... )
