About half a year ago, in September, I took a vacation to Florida with an awesome family. Sure, I'm a single guy hanging out with a family
of four, but I'm OK with that. :) B, my old roommate, A, his wife, and their two daughters, 2 and 0.5 years old.
We left on Saturday for a two-day trip to Orlando. B and I spent the entire drive up front in the
van, while A and the kids hung out in the back. The kids did very well for such a long drive. For lunch on Saturday we Gotta lotta flava at
Bojangles. Dinner at Longhorn was a much welcome rest near the Jacksonville hotel after pushing the drive maybe slightly too far.
After a good night's rest (for me at least), we continued our trip into FL. The others left me at my brother's house after stopping by for a
quick introduction. I was able to enjoy a good portion of the day with my brother and his family.
First, we spent some time around the house catching up, and catching baseball...
After playing around a bit, we got in the car and headed for Orlando. On the south side of the city, we found a nice park with a disc golf course we all
could enjoy...
18 holes later, we continue on to Disney's Port Orleans hotel where I would stay for the week. The hotel was great, although spread out quite a bit. There
was an island in the center with the feature pool. Circling the island was a river, exiting to one side of the property. On the other side of the river were
the buildings with guest rooms, and the main building with cafe, dining area, and lots of other entertainment. Throughout the week, I enjoyed just walking
over the bridges from my side of the property to the island, and then to the main building, where I could fill my complimentary mug with soda pop.
After checking in and dropping off my bag in my room, we headed out to TGI Friday's for dinner. Thanks bro! Then back to the hotel. We got in bathing suits, and
headed for the feature pool. The pool was huge, including waterfalls, a water slide, and all sorts of decorations. We all enjoyed the water slide, hot tub,
and tossing the football until after 10PM. It was a great time with family! We parted ways, and I prepared for a busy week of fun ahead of me.
To be continued...
